Use of the wall includes use of our equipment; including helmets, harnesses and ropes. We have in-situ ropes on all the routes on the wall. We also have two anchor weight bags for belayers who are belaying a climber heavier than themselves. Our selection of harnesses includes traditional sit harnesses and full body harnesses for the younger climbers.
We have a total of 8 ropes, which can be used simultaneously – subject to adequate instructor coverage. As a guide, each rope will require its own trained instructor or competent belayer (and a qualified supervising instructor). Each rope in use can be used by between 1 and 3 participants in rotation (one at a time climbing whilst the others belay).
In summary: For a one hour session for beginners, we would recommend no more than 12 climbers to give them all a fair chance. The greater the length of time allowed or the lower the number of climbers the more they will get to climb.
